What I absolutely love about summer are long days and endless, golden sunlight. Especially, when the grass is high and turns brown, there is such a magical atmosphere everywhere, which always reminds me of my childhood days, strolling through the wildflower fields and sleeping under the stars along with the sound of thousands of crickets.

Tanja & Robin, who are about to be married in 2021, are also fans of the golden hour and we were so lucky to have this field to ourselves during the engagement session.

„2020: This is my year and I will do all of the things“

– at least that’s what the big calendar on my wall says. Oh, boy … Well, I think it’s safe to say that everything turned out differently than expected. March came and everything fell into chaos due to COVID-19. I didn’t think I’d be able to shoot sessions again in the near future, but thankfully it was allowed 5 weeks later.

And so I met up with one of my bridal couples,  Julia and Mirko, who planned to get married on July 4, 2020. Today is July 4th and unfortunately, they are not allowed to have their wedding today the way they want to, so I will be documenting their big wedding next year. LOVE IS NOT CANCELLED!

Exploring the late-summer landscape with its fields and the slightly coloured leaves is always a pleasure! Jaline won a couple shoot with me and together with Patrick we had a great time during our session.

Love is in the air …

Sometimes all it takes are 30 minutes to get beautiful pictures of special memories – such as a baby belly :) Together with Leona and Dominik, who are currently expecting their first child, we created natural, candid and fun images in the overwhelmingly beautiful cherry blossom streets of Marburg. I can smell spring when I look at this shoot! :)

Are you thinking about capturing this special time of your life? Don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Here are some tips concerning maternity shoots for you:

1. When is the best time for a shoot like this?

The best time to have a maternity shoot is around the last 6-4 weeks before the estimated date of delivery – this way the belly shows really nicely and you’re still comfortable.

2. What should I/we wear?

First of all: Please don’t wear anything you’re not feeling like yourself in. But – choose an outfit that highlights your curves / your belly, for example flowy dresses/skirts. Make sure you and your partner match in colour and pattern (nothing too crazy and mismatching).

3. How should I pose?

Keep it natural! There are many possibilities, for example interacting with your partner, massaging the belly, walking, cuddling – as long as you feel good and don’t have to think too hard about how you might look, it’s the right thing.

After what felt like an eternity, I finally was allowed to shoot again – and I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed it!

Madeleine & Benjamin were the first ones in front of my camera since this aweful pandemic and to be honest, I actually was a bit nervous. But also, I was very excited just to pack my equipment the day before and to see this awesome location in Marburg (How beautiful is this street lined with cherry trees, you guys?!) … Every self-doubt and nervousness was blown away instantly! We had a blast and those two lovebirds did such a great job just being natural and having fun as you will see in these pictures :)

The beginning of autumn

Is marked by changing light, softer now, glowing.

The air smells of fresh earth

And the leaves begin to change their dress:

Colours of yellow, of orange and red.

Now it’s time to reminisce

About times when there was only you and me

And the dark clouds outside.

I’m not even kidding when I say that I’ve never had so much fun at a family/engagement session!

Actually, I’ve never had such a crazy and (literally) colourful shoot before :)

After we explored a beautiful spot with apple trees – quite a bad idea because Emil was more interested in picking apples than taking photos, haha – we went down to a lake nearby, got out the colours and had a BLAST! Even the dog was intrigued and now that everybody was full of colours anyway, Lea and Julian decided to go for a swim in the warm summer light :)

This was truly magical! Thanks x

It was two days before their wedding.

No sign of stress.

They were just madly in love.

This pre-wedding session was so much fun!

Carry on my wayward son
For there’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
(This song played while we shot this engagement session and since it is – at least to me – one of the most epic and best songs in the world, I thought it might fit quite well here.)
